| For
burning candles:
Be responsible when burning
candles. Never leave burning candles unattended. Always trim the
wick to 1/4 inch before lighting or relighting. Keep candles out
of drafts and away from children and pets. Discontinue use when
1/2 inch of wax remains. Keep the waxpool free of wick trimmings,
matches and other debris. Burn 3-4 hours at a time to reduce the
amount of wax left on the sides of jars. It is normal for some
wax to be left. Always place votive candles in a proper holder.
Always place candles on a heat resistant surface. Occasionally,
wicks may develop a black "mushroom." This "fragrance
mushroom" is caused by the high volume of fragrant oil used
in our candles. When this happens, extinguish the candle and allow
to cool, trim the wick to 1/4 inch and relight. Follow these helpful
hints and enjoy many hours of candlelit pleasure.
For
using fragrant oils:
Use fragrant oils for light-bulb
scenting by placing a few drops of oil on our Scent Ring. Rest
the Scent Ring on any light bulb (75 watts or less), switch on
the light and soon the room will be filled with fragrance.
Empty a vial of fragrant oil into the water tank of your toilet.
The oil will float to the surface and continue to scent your bathroom
for about one week.
When hand-washing woolens and delicate fabrics, add a few drops
of fragrant oil to the final rinse water.
For enjoying potpourri:
Since
1970,
Scent Shop has been collecting decorative botanicals and fragrant
oils and combining them into distinctive pot pourri to perfume
the indoor air and make it outdoor fresh.
Every Scent Shop Potpourri is part of a collection including matching
candles, room sprays, fragrant oils and reed diffusers.
Potpourri is a natural way of air freshening, and dates back to
thousands of years B.C.
Each potpourri is designed to scent beautifully alone or to create
a total fragrant experience when united with one or more of its
matching counterparts.
Scent Shop Potpourri's are easily refreshed with our fragrant
oils or refresher sprays.
To refresh a potpourri, remove the larger pieces and set aside.
Place the smaller pieces in a plastic bag and 1/2 bottle of its
matching fragrant oil. Allow the oil to be completely absorbed
before returning the pieces to the container. Arrange the larger
pieces on top and enjoy.
Do not allow potpourri to come into direct contact with fine furniture
finishes or painted or varnished surfaces.
Glass or ceramic containers are recommended as pot pourri may
harm some metal finishes.
